Frequently asked questions

Three main uses: design backgrounds (a soft blurred photo behind hero text, presentation slides, social cards); placeholder thumbnails (a low-detail preview that loads instantly while the real image fetches); and stylized abstract photos when you want a mood, not a subject.
Portrait mode blurs only the background while keeping the subject sharp (selective, AI-powered). This tool applies a uniform blur to the whole photo, including any people or subjects in it. Use Portrait mode when you want a focused subject; use Blur image when you want the entire frame soft.
Light (10) and Medium (20) keep enough detail that the original photo is still recognizable, good for stylized backgrounds where the subject reads through softly. Heavy (40) and Max (80) abstract the photo entirely, better for hero backgrounds where text overlays the image, or for placeholder thumbnails that just need to suggest the colors and composition of the full image.
Not here. This tool applies blur to the entire frame. For selective blur (sharp subject, blurred background), use Portrait mode. For freeform partial blur you need an image editor (Photopea, Photoshop, GIMP) that supports brush-based or selection-based blur.
